Sailing Through Grade 5

Picture
Attention Sailors,

Welcome to the sea, where our nautical and educational adventures begin!  Teamwork is inevitable, and learning occurs in the most fascinating and fun manner.  This year I have again chosen a nautical theme for our classroom.  Classroom environment is the key for maximum learning to occur in my classroom.  I am thrilled to have all of you as part of this year’s celebration of learning/knowledge.  Fifth grade is a very exciting and challenging experience for the students, as they acquire the necessary skills that will prepare them for middle school.  I am looking forward to assisting them through this transition.

School begins at 8:20 every morning.  When students arrive at school, they are expected to follow the proper Covid-19 sanitizing procedures and then wait outside until the bell rings at 8:20 and then they may enter the classroom and prepare for the day.  They should be in class, seated and ready to work no later than 8:30 A.M.

Learning Unlimited students are expected to come to school every day in full uniform and on gym days with a complete set of P.E. clothes.  Please ensure that students have all their required school supplies daily.  All books must be covered with paper or  reusable book covers.  Students are expected to keep a record of their assignments in an agenda, which must be brought to school on a daily basis.  Each student’s agenda and take home folder, should be checked every night for assignments or notes from school and signed by a parent or guardian.   Please encourage a quiet study/work time each day so that your child accepts responsibility and completes his/her homework appropriately and on time..
Students are expected to read at least 20 minutes every evening to help them become better readers and enjoy reading.  They will also be expected to complete a reading response to accompany their reading log..

I have set high expectations for this class and will work my hardest with each and every student to help him/her reach his/her goals.  Just as I am part of the students’ learning success, so are both the child and his/her family.  I need the child to help me lead him/her to success by showing effort and determination.   I also need the help of the parents/family through their reinforcement of the student’s learning at home.  I believe that by working together, all three parts will make a powerful and successful team.

If at any time you have a question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can email me at: asimiele@luschool.com
Stay tuned to our class website for updates and highlights.  I look forward to a fun, friendly and successful year of invaluable learning experiences!

Sincerely,

Ms. Anne
